Trusting Children 2: Baby uses fork

Again, another brilliant post by The Full Montessori mum reminding us to trust the child and his world. Things are only as dangerous as we perceive them to be. My favourite happening in a Children’s House is when a glass breaks. I enjoy encourage children to wait or bring things needed to clear the debris. I enjoy modelling how no one, including the adult, picks up glass bare-handed. Mostly, I enjoy exercising self-control and resist holding a child’s hand if he has picked up a piece because I know his reaction will be to tighten his hold on it which has a far greater potential of injuring him.
